arguementI’m right!
You are wrong!

A zero sum no growth argument

Humans have an innate relationship with three, which goes back through the ages and across all forms of spoken and written communication.

Some examples ...

  • A B C and 1 2 3
  • Freud’s theory of the personality ... id, ego, superego
  • The Three Musketeers,
  • The Three Stooges,
  • Three Amigos,
  • Three Men and a Baby
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears
  • Gold, Silver and Bronze medals
  • The three wise men
  • Baseball has three bases
  • Huey, Dewey, and Louie

The list goes on and on.

What’s this got to do with a couple of angry cartoon characters?

Let’s look at the concept of a Third View

When faced with a challenging situation how about you approach that with some questions such as ….

  • If we were to break that down into 3 steps what could they be?
  • What 3 options could be considered as being worth investigating?
  • ????? ….. now it’s time for you to come up with a third option.

Confrontation commences with the default … I’m right you are wrong approach.

Going head to head is a win/loose zero sum game, and that approach doesn't create better outcomes.

Third View shifts the focus and thinking toward a collaborate outcome, rather than confrontational.

Time to change perspective …. there is your view, their view and a yet to be explored better view (the third view).
